Summer Time

Ahh summer! The sun is already beating warm upon our necks at 8 am.

I travel Indian River Drive on my to work and embrace the reflection on the lagoon. I realize again just how blessed I am. Tonight we have Dakota's kindergarten school orientation. I managed to hold back all but a few tears at his graduation from preschool. He looks forward to the big yellow bus and cafeteria food..... how long will that last I wonder? But his curiosity makes me smile. Only week one of spring break and he tells me he is bored.... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree I guess. We have already counted the blooms on his magnolia tree and searched the watermelon plant for signs of fruit. Next up will be a fishing trip with dad, summer camp at The Manatee Center, a cruise, a week of zoo camp and grandma & grandpa's house. Yet he will still say what's next with all enthusiasm! Every day a new beginning.... a new chance to discover something new. Oh course my youngest is taking it day by day in another way. We are working on potty training, colors and the singing songs. The backyard suites her just fine.... for now!

A New Year

A new year a new you they say.
So true in the case of my children. They have made huge leaps and bounds and we are only in day 20 of this year.
Kennedy is eating everything! She loves carrots, peas, green beans & bananas so far. She also loves drinking water from a cup. She sat up the other day.... at 5 months old she amazes me!
And of course Dakota.
My little man is so brave and ready to take on the world. I long for a little of that free spirit that you can only capture as a child. He sits at the dinner table every night... to big for a high chair he says. And big brothers need to watch over "our sister" as he calls K. Already so protective. Now mastering sleeping all night in his toddler bed and finally weighing enough to go from car seat to booster seat, he is no longer my baby boy. Everyday is something new. Today he instructed me on how there are good germs and bad. Small and tiny mean germs want to live in our mouths so we brush them out and say 'get lost'. I asked him to show me a germ..."silly mommy you need an instrument microscope to see them because they are too little".
I cherish each day with them and their germs:)
